《“现在的日子，攒劲得很！”》

推荐理由：新疆自古以来就是中国神圣领土不可分割的一部分。新中国成立以来，在党中央的正确领导和亲切关怀下，新疆各族意气风发，团结奋斗，人民生活发生了翻天覆地的变化。今日的新疆，社会和谐稳定，经济繁荣发展，人民安居乐业，处在历史上最好的繁荣发展时期，这颗中国西部的明珠正重新焕发出璀璨的光芒。

“忘不了，哪个能忘得了那个激动人心的场景啊！”

“I can never forget…… who can forget that exciting scene!”

91岁的新疆维吾尔自治区原农业厅副厅长单尚志嗓门洪亮，跟记者忆起72年前的往事，兴致一下子就上来了。

Shan Shangzhi, 91 years old, was former deputy director of the Department of Agriculture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In a loud voice, he was telling the reporter about the past 72 years ago with great interest.    

1949年9月25日，新疆和平解放。这是新疆历史上具有划时代意义的转折点，也是中国人民解放事业和祖国统一事业的一件大事。4天后，人民日报在头版报道了这则喜讯。

On September 25th, 1949, Xinjiang was peacefully liberated. The peaceful liberation marked an epoch-making turning point in the social development history of Xinjiang, as well as a major part in the great cause of Chinese people's liberation and the reunification of the motherland. Four days later, the People’s Daily reported the good news on the front page.

同年12月17日，新疆维吾尔自治区人民政府、新疆军区宣告成立。随后，在乌鲁木齐举行了部队检阅仪式。还是一名高中生的单尚志参加了群众游行。

On December 17 of the same year, the people’s Government of Xinjiang Province and the Xinjiang military region were established. Subsequently, a military parade was held in Urumqi. Shan Shangzhi, then a high school student, took part in the mass parade.

“那是冬天嘛，天气冷得很，但我们的心是火热的，都穿着蓝色的学生棉服，再套上自己最好看的外衣，高呼‘毛主席万岁’‘共产党万岁’，从检阅台前依次走过。”单尚志记得，他那天穿了父亲给的一件驼色呢子大衣，并把马裤裤脚整齐地塞进毡筒靴，“这可是我当时最气派的行头了，专门穿着去庆祝的。”单尚志说，这么多年来，不少当地人常去乌鲁木齐革命烈士陵园瞻仰，“要不是解放了，新疆还不知道会穷糟成什么样子呢！”

“It was a freezing winter, but the parade warmed our hearts. In blue school cotton uniforms, with our best-looking coats, we students were chanting “Long live Chairman Mao！Long live the Communist Party of China！” when we passed by the podium.” Shan Shangzhi remembers that he wore a light tan woolen coat given by his father and neatly kept his trouser legs inside boots. “That was the most magnificent outfit for me at that time. I wore it to celebrate for the event.” Over the years, many local people have often visited the cemetery of revolutionary martyrs in Urumqi, Shan Shangzhi added, “But for the liberation, no one would know how poor Xinjiang would be, even worse!”

72年间，曾经贫穷落后的新疆，已成为各族人民的幸福家园。新疆维吾尔自治区成立近66年来，经济总量增长了80多倍。今天，徜徉在天山南北，处处能感受到活力、欢乐、和谐。

Over the past 72 years, Xinjiang, once poor and backward, has become a happy hometown for people of all ethnic groups. Since the establishment of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the total economic volume here has increased more than 80 times in nearly 66 years. Today, it can be found that people in Xinjiang live a life full of vitality, joy and harmony.
